Nut awareness notice
Russet House school is a food allergy aware school. We have children in school with severe nut allergies and it is vital that we keep them as safe as possible. Please do not send any items containing nuts in to school for your child for snacks or packed lunches. Also please do not bring any items containing nuts on to our school site. Thank you.
Russet House has a kitchen on site where meals are prepared and served.
Stir Food provide the school meals, and use quality ingredients. Menus are nutritionally balanced and include seasonal and locally sourced produce.
- All eggs are both Free Range and Cage free and are available on Stir's buying list from Bidfood.
- Fruit and vegetables are seasonal and locally produced.Please click here to see growers map for Watts farm.
- All meat from our butchers will meet the UK animal welfare standards as a minimum.
- All fish is Marine Stewardship Certified (MSC)
- Menus meet the Government’s Food, and Nutrient-based standards
- A vegetarian option is always available
- No pork or pork products are served.
- All meat is Halal.
Please let us know if your child has any special dietary requirements such as gluten or dairy-free.

Kitchen staff
Our meals are freshly cooked daily by qualified and fully trained staff. All Kitchen Supervisors are trained to at least the level of NVQ2 in Food Preparation and Cooking and many hold qualifications in Customer Care and Team Leadership.
Free School Meals
Some children are entitled to a free school meal because of the benefits their parents receive.
If you think your child may be entitled to a free school meal for this reason, please speak to our school office or call the Pupil Benefit Helpline on 020 8379 5367 (8.30am – 12pm then 2pm – 4pm).

Universal Infant Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a free school meal. For application form please click here
Free School Meals funded by the London Mayor in 2023-2024
Children who are in Key stage 2 (curriculum years 3 – 6) and whose parents are not in receipt of benefits are eligible for a free school meal in 2023-2024. This is being partially funded by the London Mayor’s scheme. You do not need to apply for these.
